2 Corinthians 5:17
In John 14:27, Jesus said, “I leave you peace; it’s not like what the world gives. Don’t worry or be scared.” Jesus' peace lasts and stays strong even when things are tough. It's like a calm in a storm, keeping us steady. The disciples were anxious and scared before Jesus came to them after His resurrection. Matthew was writing quickly, Peter was quiet in a corner, Andrew stayed busy, and Simon was planning for trouble and getting annoyed. Simon, once a Zealot, symbolized how we turn to old habits when we're afraid. We all have ways to cope when we're stressed or scared. Jesus wants us to leave those things behind. When Jesus breathed on the disciples, it was like God breathing life into Adam in Genesis. It symbolized a new beginning with Jesus, bringing life and light instead of darkness. Jesus said, “Receive the Holy Spirit,” giving them a fresh start. Thomas hasn't seen Jesus yet, but he's not just a doubter.
