Jesus is dead, and his disciples are hidden and afraid of meeting the same fate. Two unexpected figures devote themselves to his burial. All seems hopeless for the followers of Christ, but it’s always darkest before the dawn.
Holy Saturday is a dark time between Jesus' death and resurrection. Joseph believed in Jesus but kept quiet due to fear. Yet, he honored Jesus in death by giving Him a proper burial.
Joseph's story teaches us a lot about finding our place in God's gang. In Ephesians 4:15-16, Paul talks about growing together in love. This relates to Joseph's careful burial of Jesus. He and Nicodemus showed deep respect and love for Jesus, teaching us to care for each other like they did for Jesus.
In 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Paul compares the church to a body, where every part is essential. You're a crucial piece of God's community, with your own unique gifts.
Remember, you're not alone. You're part of something big. Even when life feels dark and scary, keep the faith as Joseph did. We're all in this together, stumbling toward our Savior.
